The Kite Project
I, Jun Bum, Jun Hee, and Rex made a box kite. After we read about the book ‘'Kite Runner’', we had to make a connection and make an actual kite. The kite represents major characters in the book, further more, even the whole book. First, our group did some research about the types of kites. Then, we chose to do a box kite. I really liked it. I wanted to make a difference and something unique.
Each of us drew our own picture related to the parts we wrote. We used certain words and symbols that are related to the story to make our kite effective. Also, the kite had three major colors. Red, blue, and orange. We had a reason why we chose it. Red represents something strong, blood (sacrifice), and violence. Usually, blue is used to represents fresh, and hope. But also, it can mean sadness, loneliness just like in the movie ‘Inside out’. Lastly, orange shows mild and calm feeling of Amir at the end. Our group made the connection by using these meaningful colors.
We spent about six hours making it. But we also spent a lot of time playing and eating. However, it was really fun. We had a hard time fixing the kite when Jun Bum and I broke it. But still, I feel very proud of our kite. And I wish it could actually fly. Because we considered many things and spent time to fly the kite.
