AR Books | Looking for Alaska
A book that I read for AR this month is "Looking for Alaska" by John Green. Miles Halter, the main character, leaves his home in Florida to go to a boarding school called Culver Creek Preparatory High School in Alabama for his junior year. Miles enjoys reading biographies, and memorizing the last words of famous people. He likes using the term "I go to seek a great perhaps." Soon after arriving at Culver Creek, Miles meets his roommate, Chip "The Colonel" Martin. The Colonel nicknames Miles "Pudge", which is the opposite of what Miles really is. He has a slender figure. He then introduces Pudge to his friends Takumi Hikohito and Alaska Young. Alaska Young is a beautiful unstable girl. Alaska is the other main character in this story. This book tells the story of Alaska Young and Miles "pudge" Halter, with a shocking ending that really surprised me.
If I had to rate this book, I would give it a 7 out of 10 stars. In my opinion, it was a good book overall, but it did not give me as much excitement as I hoped it would. The way the author wrote the book felt plain to me. I think that my taste in books are a little more towards to adventurous side, but this was a good book to read out of my comfort zone. I would reccommend this book to people who like a good realistic book with a simple yet thrilling story.
