ABOUT JOAN AIKEN

Joan Aiken was born in Great Britain, she worked as a librarian for the U.N. Information Comittee from1943 to 1949. Aiken was a English writer specialising in supernatural fiction and childern history novels. Aiken did not attend a university. Writing stories from an early age, she finished her first novel when she was sixteen years old. She had her first short story for adults accepted for publication when she was seventeen. In 1941 her first children's story was broadcasted on BBC's children hour. She died in Pet worth, West Sussex, England, on January 4, 2004.
